We Will Rock You

last sunday was fantastic ((:
i caught We Will Rock You in Esplanade theatres! at long last! :D

wanna hear my adventure in getting there? i'll tell you anyway.
my dad fetched me over and i was running late. moreover, it was the weekend and it jammed over near Suntec City. i nearly jumped out of the car and ran over to the Esplanade myself. but i made it in time. i got out of the car when the car was screeching to a halt and ran like mad all the way to the theatre entrances. in heels. haha (: with 20 seconds counting down on the theatre's digital clock.

luckily, it was easy to find my seat along the aisle. and i sat down next to a family of four. and i'm ALONE! so sadd, seriously. haha, but then the musical started as soon as i sat down, and they announced that Annie Crummer will be absent in the role of the Killer Queen and is then replaced for the afternoon. reason unknown. dang.

so it was exhilarating to find that i'm in the ninth row from the front, a better seat than i was in for Phantom of The Opera the last time. and then the sound effects were so good, i felt like being in a true rock concert (: then MiG Ayesa appeared as Galileo and i think all the girls like me melted in a fraction of a second because he looked so good in that leather jacket of his.

the entire performance was peppered with jokes, with a hint of Singaporean, and specific mention of Bugis Street, Dick Lee and Fried Rice Paradise. Even Galileo attempted to use Singlish in connecting with the audience, in a very well-appreciated manner (: Queen, Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, Kurt Cobain, Michael Hutchence, Jimi Hendrix, even the Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake, and the Spice Girls were all brought up in the name of music, whether in respect for changing music history or in good humour (:

at "half-time", during the interval, i decided i to go over to the Merchandise section and got a keyring! (: i had wanted to get a t-shirt but then eh.. so yes, the keyring. more practical, right?

at two and a half hours, the show was a little long. but i really liked all the singing, especially between the two leads and i'm proud to say that MiG was really good like i expected (: i got bored during one of the dance sequences in the second part that seemed meaningless to the development of the plot, at least to me. but i reckon that the whole idea was to portray Queen's music in a different manner. then the finale came. and everyone in the audience was urged on to participate; "come on, sing with me", "i wanna see all of you raise your arms in the air". it felt so much like a rock concert except that everyone was seated down in comfy chairs.

by the time it ended, i felt like going back in again for another round. i was even hoping that i would bump into MiG, coming out of the restroom. of course i didn't. otherwise i would probably be madd now.

we will rock you, indeed.
the cast and the musicians delivered as much as they promised in the title of their rock musical. i'm glad i didn't miss this one ((:
