Never Forget. Never Forgive. Never Forget. Never Forgive. ![]() It's Todd, now. Sweeney Todd. And he shall have his revenge.. I've been waiting the whole time for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Finally caught it after everything last week, glad i could make one of its last few runs. As always, Tim Burton-Johnny Depp collaborations get me all keyed up (: Corpse Bride was awesome, an all-time favourite (: I guess Sweeney Todd was this breakthrough film that is reminiscent of Sleepy Hollow all that years ago. And at it, Sweeney was additionally a musical (yay!) and the depiction of such gore, dark humour and the macabre sense of it seem almost typically Tim Burton and fit for a leading role by Johnny Depp. I was so excited upon getting tickets to watch the movie, like I haven't caught a movie in a thousand years. And while just listening to all the songs that were performed in the movie, I'm really bowled over by Depp singing and all. I'm even starting to like Helena Bonham Carter. It seems to me like both of them were so fitting in their roles. I liked how Mrs. Lovett was portrayed; her performance of "Worst Pies in London" was probably my favourite. Multi-tasking! I could never bake while singing THAT well! Ha. Then again, I liked Sweeney when he's barking mad. Johnny Depp always exudes this eccentric personality who eludes himself from the glamour and high-life of a Hollywood celebrity, which is something that I admire him for. And it's nice to see how he grew into this dark disturbed role of Sweeney, after his oh-so-savvy turn as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates *applause*(: Yes, the songs were good; the costumes and set were to be marveled at, with all the beautiful run-down shophouses that depict the obscurity of Fleet Street and the fortress-like estates that line the richer part of old London. And that twist at the end of the movie, after a body count of 12, all that hatred boiling inside of him; when Sweeney is eventually brought down by his very own young accomplice, still reminds us that he is after all, human. Now I just need to get my hands on the official soundtrack before I go catch it as a Broadway musical (: You, sir? How about a shave? BRENN.
