Jamming. On a Saturday. Sounds awesome.

But not when it involves having to wake up in the morning; not being able to sleep in til noon, and sore shoulders after having to lug my 4KG guitar all the way from where I stay to the jamming studio at Clarke Quay, which is a long and heavy 45-minute trip by public transportation.

Which is why I hate the PROCESS of jamming but love JAMMING itself.

This recent session was all awesome so I had to blog about it. Three outta four of us were late. And I woke up late, traffic was slow. Thought I was the only one who was always late but the others proved me wrong. Haha. I reached Clarke Quay station at noon sharp, which is exactly the time for our jamming to start in the studio. Bassist was waiting, drummer turned up third after me.

With the consent of the lead guitarist, we all left for the jamming studio first. We were like 20 minutes late in getting there and the guy-in-charge was gracious enough to count the time starting from the moment we stepped in. Phew.

Because Im such a procastinator, my guitar wasnt tuned right, vocals not warmed up. Voice and guitar skills sucked. BIG TIME. Oh well. We're still trying for Green Day's "Whatsername". By the time we tried to play the whole song after an hour of further procastinating, it still sucked. No coordination, everyone was immersed in his/her own parts and we broke out laughing.

Lead guitarist suffered a broken thumb the day before, which we all affectionately called "brumb". A couple of times we all knocked into things like microphone stands, chairs and music stands in the studio. As if these "kisses" werent enough, I actually stubbed my toe into the Randall Amp I was using after I placed my guitar too close to the amp and it gave us all some loud, deafening feedback that blasted my eardrums. Ugh.

And after we all got sick of our playing, we just sat there in the studio, playing random tunes on our own instruments and tried our vocals. Evanescence's "Bring Me To Life" might be next on the list if we could all play it and if its bren-singable.

At the end of the jamming session, we all emerged perspiring "musicians" because the air-conditioning in the studio was horrid and no one made a move to actually tell the guy-in-charge. Too immersed in making "noise", I think. Haha.

Well, here goes another 45-minute of shoulder-aching, back-breaking public-transport trip home, while still carrying my 4KG guitar.
